Bad Bunny and adidas Originals Unveil the Ballerina Sneaker
Bad Bunny is taking a bold new step in his ongoing collaboration with adidas Originals. His latest release, the Bad Bunny Ballerina, is a departure from conventional sneaker design, blending elements of dance, music, and cultural heritage. Inspired by Puerto Rico’s rich artistic traditions, the sneaker reflects Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio’s continuous evolution as an artist and his ability to reinterpret the past through a contemporary lens.
Launching in a striking gold colorway, the Ballerina embodies the energy of Puerto Rican dance and music—two pillars of Bad Bunny’s artistry. The sneaker’s design takes cues from the adidas Taekwondo model, originally crafted for martial artists in the early 2000s. With premium suede overlays on the toe and heel, a sleek silhouette, and bungee-cord laces, it combines performance heritage with a modern aesthetic. Unique details, such as “Benito” branding near the Three Stripes and an external sizing tag, tie the sneaker back to his previous adidas collaborations.
The Ballerina also aligns with the themes of Bad Bunny’s latest album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, particularly through its connection to DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, where he revisits his musical origins and pushes salsa forward as a bridge between tradition and innovation. Like his music, the Ballerina fuses different worlds—ballet, martial arts, and streetwear—into something new, fluid, and reflective of his unique vision.
Bad Bunny’s ability to merge cultural storytelling with fashion is evident in every aspect of the Ballerina. It doesn’t just honour his roots; it transforms them, offering a fresh perspective on movement and rhythm. As he continues breaking records in the music industry, this sneaker marks yet another milestone in his growing influence beyond music.
The Bad Bunny Ballerina in gold will be available in select stores on March 29, 2025.
