Sandro Channels Louise Bourgeois for SS25
For Spring/Summer 2025, Sandro’s Women’s design studio turns to the world of artist Louise Bourgeois as the starting point of a capsule collection grounded in emotion, memory, and material. Known widely for her towering spider sculptures, Bourgeois also had a deep connection to fabric—cutting up old clothes, reassembling them into patchworks, and exploring how memories are sewn into the everyday.
This artistic language, rooted in deconstruction and emotional resonance, forms the creative framework for Sandro’s upcoming capsule. Under the direction of founder Evelyne Chetrite, the studio focused on the symbolism of the spiral, which Bourgeois often used as a metaphor for the layered and sometimes chaotic feelings tied to her past. The design team translated this into silhouettes that swirl with movement and details that gently disrupt traditional tailoring codes.
Natural fabrics take the lead. Linen voile, printed cotton poplin, and silk twill bring softness and lightness to a collection filled with warm-weather staples—flowy shirts and trousers, striped patchwork skirts, floppy hats, and dresses that mirror both seaside ease and artistic intent. A palette of Mediterranean blues ties the collection back to personal memories of summers in the south of France, a place as sentimental to Sandro as it was evocative to Bourgeois.
Long before sustainability became a mainstream concern, Louise Bourgeois was already repurposing fabrics from her own home and wardrobe. Her practical, personal approach to materials aligns with Sandro’s current focus on thoughtful design and longevity. The capsule reflects this mindset with an emphasis on quality fabrics and construction, placing value on process rather than trends.
You can check out the collection at an exclusive pop-up at Mall of the Emirates until April 23, 2025.
