Sotheby’s Dubai Unveils Masterpieces of Islamic Art
This autumn, Sotheby’s Dubai will captivate art lovers with an exhibition showcasing Islamic art masterpieces and works by leading modern and contemporary Middle Eastern artists. From September 30 to October 4, the public can view an exquisite 1,200-year-old bronze aquamanile from 8th century Iraq — a rare depiction of a buck — estimated at £2 – 3 million and on display for the first time before its auction debut.
The exhibition also features rare manuscripts, beautiful pottery, and gem-set jewellery, celebrating the rich heritage of Islamic art in the heart of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Additionally, paintings by prominent regional artists will be on view, reflecting the blend of tradition and modernity that defines Middle Eastern culture.
Free and open to all, the event offers an enriching cultural experience before the works travel to London for Sotheby’s bi-annual Middle Eastern art week at New Bond Street, offering a unique preview ahead of the auction stage.
