QASIMI SS25 Walks London Fashion Week

QASIMI made a dynamic return to the runway with its Spring/Summer 2025 collection, marking the first live show under Hoor Al Qasimi's creative direction since she assumed the role in 2020. Collaborating with acclaimed artist Kambui Olujimi, the collection seamlessly blends art, sculpture, and fashion to explore deep themes of identity, history, and sociopolitics.

As see during London Fashion Week, the partnership is pivotal in shaping the collection, drawing substantial inspiration from Olujimi's powerful "When Monuments Fall" series, which examines the recontextualization of monuments and their societal roles and power dynamics. Under Al Qasimi's leadership, the design team proposed new narratives by reinterpreting shapes and forms, with the concept of "spolia" at the collection's core—integrating elements from older structures into new designs to recontextualize QASIMI’s identity by merging past influences with contemporary aesthetics.

The garments embody this concept through a mix of fluid and structured silhouettes, symbolizing the evolving nature of monuments. The collection features key fabrics like medium-weight silk twill, sheer cotton voile, and a luxurious silk-wool blend. Techniques such as digital printing, image granulation, and fading are used to evoke the passage of time and the shifting significance of the original artworks.
