Q RISING Launches Collaboration with Lagos Fashion Week

Originally launched in Sharjah, UAE, in 2023, Q RISING has rebranded to distinguish its talent incubator from the QASIMI label. Under Q RISING’s guidance, inaugural winner Omer Asim has expanded his business, and in conjunction with Lagos Fashion Week, Q RISING is now presenting a month-long residency at luxury Lagos retailer Temple Muse. This residency will showcase the 2024 Q RISING winner Omer Asim, alongside collections from QASIMI and menswear brand APAR.

Now, has officially commenced its partnership with Lagos Fashion Week, starting with a one-day mentorship workshop aimed at supporting emerging designers in the region. This marks the beginning of a global mentorship series, where Q RISING will scout for new talent in anticipation of its 2026 cohort. Selected designers will receive three years of funding (covering six fashion seasons) along with an additional seven years of mentorship to help build sustainable, long-term brands. Applications for the 2026 intake will open next summer.

On November 1, Q RISING will host individual workshops for eight African designers, including Abiola Olusola (Nigeria), Ajabeng (Ghana), Boyedoe (Ghana), Kente Gentleman (Ivory Coast), Lila Bare (Kenya), Oshobor (Nigeria), Pepperrow (Nigeria), and Y’Wandelag (Nigeria). This will be followed by a day of talks, addressing topics such as community building and sustainability, an initiative supported by Lagos Fashion Week Founder and Executive Director Omoyemi Akerele to foster African fashion's creative energy and help local designers tackle brand-building challenges.
