Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils Collaboration with Abdalla Almulla
Coinciding with the grand reopening of its newly redesigned flagship boutique at Dubai Mall, Jaeger-LeCoultre has revealed an exclusive collaboration with Emirati architect and artist Abdalla Almulla. Building on a partnership during Ramadan 2024, the brand has once again teamed up with Almulla to create a bespoke art piece that adorns one of the two VIP lounges in the boutique.
The redesigned boutique pays homage to the Vallée de Joux, Jaeger-LeCoultre's home in Switzerland. The interior design features organic materials, soft natural colours, and carpets inspired by the textures of trees, rocks, and minerals. Almulla’s commissioned art piece seamlessly integrates this aesthetic, symbolising the enduring connection between Jaeger-LeCoultre and the UAE. The artwork blends organic forms and architectural precision. Geometric patterns within the piece reflect the pinecones of the Vallée de Joux forests and the trunks of date palms from the Dubai desert. A subtle colour transition from warm wood tones to deep greens represents the fusion of these two distinct yet complementary worlds.
Titled Chronoforms, the art installation is a striking representation of time and form. The name combines ‘chrono’—symbolising time—and ‘forms’—representing geometry. This interplay captures the fluidity of time while paying tribute to Art Deco, a design language integral to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s heritage and the origin of the iconic Reverso timepiece. The piece evolves from a horizontal configuration in warm wood tones, inspired by the geometric elegance of desert palm trees, to vertical structures in rich green hues, echoing the angularity and texture of pine trees. This transformation reflects growth and the passage of time. The gradient of colours creates a rhythmic visual illusion, embodying the dialogue between nature and time.
