IWC Unveils the Ingenieur Automatic 40 in Blue
IWC Schaffhausen expands its Ingenieur collection with the new Ingenieur Automatic 40, featuring a striking blue dial. This model stays true to the bold design of Gérald Genta’s 1970s Ingenieur SL, while maintaining the brand’s standards of ergonomics, wearability, and movement technology.
Originally launched in 1955 as IWC’s first antimagnetic wristwatch for civilian use, the Ingenieur is now most closely associated with Genta, who reimagined it in the 1970s with a stainless steel case and integrated bracelet. The Ingenieur Automatic 40, introduced last year, continues this legacy with its signature bezel, five functional screws, and integrated bracelet. After debuting in titanium and stainless steel versions, the collection now adds a fresh blue dial.
The Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328907) features a stainless steel case, bezel, and integrated H-link bracelet. With a 40mm case size and ergonomic design, it offers a comfortable fit for most wrists. The striking blue dial features a distinctive grid pattern, stamped into the soft iron base and coated with PVD. Rhodium-plated baton hands and applied metal markers, filled with Super-LumiNova®, ensure readability in all lighting conditions.
