Aston Martin Debuts the Vanquish Volante
Aston Martin has unveiled the Vanquish Volante, the fastest and most powerful open-top series production car in the brand’s history. As a flagship convertible, it combines speed, dynamic engineering, and sophisticated design, making it one of the most striking models to bear the Volante name. With a top speed of 322 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 3.5 seconds, it sets a new benchmark for front-engine convertibles.
At the heart of the Vanquish Volante is Aston Martin’s twin-turbo 5.2-litre V12 engine, producing an impressive 700PS and 753Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an eight-speed ZF gearbox, accompanied by an electronic rear differential for optimal weight distribution and enhanced handling. The chassis has undergone significant modifications to ensure an engaging driving experience without compromising comfort, and the integration of Bilstein DTX dampers enhances its dynamic capabilities across different drive modes.
The engineering refinements extend to its structure, with extensive use of bonded aluminium for increased rigidity. Despite the open-top design, Aston Martin has preserved the Vanquish Volante’s structural integrity while keeping weight gain to a minimum. The innovative K-fold roof system, operable at speeds up to 50 km/h, retracts in just 14 seconds, maintaining the car’s sleek silhouette whether raised or stowed.
Visually, the Vanquish Volante embodies Aston Martin’s signature aesthetic with a muscular yet refined presence. Key design elements include the elongated wheelbase, a dramatically sloping bonnet with thermos louvres for cooling, and an assertive front grille that improves airflow. The Kamm tail and integrated rear ‘Shield’ enhance both aerodynamics and visual impact, while Matrix LED headlights and frameless mirrors further refine its modern yet timeless appeal.
