Acqua di Parma Releases its Latest Luxury Candle
Introducing the Chapeau! — a candle that reimagines Acqua di Parma’s collection of multisensory design objects, infusing everyday life with vibrant energy. This innovative piece features the brand’s signature Art Deco bottle silhouette, cleverly concealing not one, but two beautifully crafted candles. Designed by Dorothée Meilichzon, the Chapeau! is a delightful blend of wit and surprise, where vibrant yellow meets serene white, and the textured allure of biscuit contrasts with the smooth sophistication of glaze. The inaugural edition is scented with Luce di Colonia, a nod to the Maison’s iconic fragrance, embodying a minimalist sophistication with an unexpected twist.
The name ‘Chapeau’ carries a dual significance, serving as both a playful hat tip and a spirited compliment. The Art Deco form hides two candles: the glazed stoneware cap is a 330-gram one-wick candle, while the ceramic base houses a larger 1600-gram four-wick candle. This juxtaposition of textures and finishes not only showcases technical skill but also adds layers of visual and tactile intrigue.
Crafted from premium white ceramic, this design-forward object is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. The base begins as an unglazed ceramic, or ‘biscuit,’ which, after being shaped and fired, is sanded to a smooth, yet raw, tactile surface. This matte finish contrasts with the glossy, glazed lid, which undergoes multiple firing processes to achieve its vibrant yellow hue. A hand-applied plaque embossed with a modern take on Acqua di Parma’s emblem, along with the hand-poured wax, adds an artisanal touch to each piece.
With the Chapeau!, Acqua di Parma continues to elevate home fragrances into extraordinary experiences, merging innovative design with inherent Italian craftsmanship for those who appreciate contemporary design and the art of scent.
