Paranoia is Taking Us Back in Time
We don’t know about you, but we’ve been WAITING for Maggie Lindemann to release a full project. We’ve listened to her singles over and over and the more she released, the more we wanted the EP.
Paranoia, her debut 8 track EP, is finally out and it is everything we wanted it to be. It’s taking us back in time, helping us rage, and also making us feel sexy af. Let’s go through this one by one.
Knife Under My Pillow
This has the most nostalgic feeling out of the entire album. Taking us into a parallel universe and back to early 2000s pop rock. It’s definitely a shorter track, but there’s something perfect about the duration that doesn’t make you want it any other way.
GASLIGHT! feat. Siiickbrain
Feels like Siiickbrain’s screaming is internal, while Maggie’s shy goth girl voice is the conversation. The track is confrontational.
Scissorhands
OUR FAVOURITE OFF THE EP! The sound of the scissors is genius and adds that little tingle down our spine, the beat during the verses are laid back and constantly hyping you up for the mad fun chorus. This track goes so hard.
Crash and Burn
We hear the Paramore inspiration and we’re not mad about it. She give us two completely different states of mind - at times coming across callous and superior during a breaking setting and other times sounding like she’s slowly burning. It is brimming.
Loner
This is a solo night drive song. The breather between the chorus and verses are a little moment of meditation in the midst of her release, the build up is harmonious, and the entire track is nostalgic.
Love Songs
The only happy and calm song Maggie has blessed us with. We can almost see her sitting on her bed, strumming her guitar and singing this to her soulmate. This track makes us think of a coming-of-age film about first loves. (Beabadoobee cover is much requested).
Different
This track is eclectic and chilling. Just like Loner, it makes us want to go on a long drive by ourselves - giving listeners a moment of release.
It’s Not Your Fault
This seems to be a fan favourite. Vocals, vocals, vocals. We’ve heard plenty of tracks by Maggie, but she’s really showing off her range in this.
Maggie’s definitely found the genre for her message and vocals. This was the perfect transition and move into her alt pop world. We were never mad at the bubblegum pop era, but we sure do love Paranoia as her debut. Maggie Lindemann has shown she’s capable of it all and that she’s found her sound and is here to stay.
